Children's Harbor Annual Fundraiser 2009 raises more than $50,000
Approximately 150 prominent business owners and community leaders joined the Children's Harbor Board of Directors, Sponsors and Donors for an outstanding evening with a view of the 2009 Winterfest Boat Parade and dinner at Charlie's Crab Waterfront Restaurant, Ft Lauderdale.
The exciting evening was a benefit for Children's Harbor, a 501(c) (3) non-profit child welfare organization working in cooperation with the City of Pembroke Pines. "Every child deserves a loving and supportive home and the dollars raised tonight help us provide that to sibling groups and pregnant and parenting teens within the foster care system," said Sue Glasscock, President and CEO of Children's Harbor.
The event included a presentation of the Symetra Community Champion Award by Stan Emert of Symetra Financial to William Mahoney, the Founder of Children's Harbor and President of Mahoney & Asociates. The Symetra Community Champion Awards celebrate those who have given a lifetime of volunteer service providing significant benefits to the community. In honor of the award, Symetra presented Children's Harbor with a financial donation.
Key corporate sponsors included: Mahoney&Associates, New York Life, Citrix Corporation, Geo Care, Delta Dental, Comerica Bank, AutoNation, Symetra Financial, Holland & Knight, BankAtlantic, Humana, NCCI, Thornburg Investment Management, Legal-Eze Litigation Consulting & Graphics, Celebrity Cruises, and Karla, Julie & Jeff Nickell.

Gone Fishing with Associated Builders & Contractors
Associated Builders & Contractors, Florida East Coast Chapter, will be donating $25,000 of the proceeds from their 13th Annual Gold Coast Fishing Tournament to Children's Harbor. The tournament was held on June 20, 2009 at the Bahia Cabana and all proceeds will go to the Children's Harbor's general fund. Children's Harbor has a long-standing relationship with the Associated Builders & Contractors and this will mark its ninth year as being a beneficiary of the annual event.
"We are truly grateful to have the continued support of ABC," said Sue Glasscock, President and Chief Executive Officer of Children's Harbor, Inc. "It proved to be a tough year for this industry, but the fact that they were able to put on another tournament and come through for the children, once again, just goes to show how genuinely committed to the community they are."
"We are extremely glad that we could put on another fishing tournament this year and help the kids at Children's Harbor," said Norma Whittier, ABC's Executive Vice President. "Children's Harbor is part of the ABC family and we absolutely love to help."
