About Us

Children's Harbor is a 501(c)(3) child welfare organization founded in 1996 in cooperation with the City of Pembroke Pines. William E. Mahoney, Jr. of Mahoney & Associates was the visionary who led a small group of committed individuals to bring Children's Harbor from a dream to a reality. The Agency provides residential services for foster children in a family-style setting, and community based services for the prevention and intervention of abuse and neglect.

Our Family Strengthening Program provides in-home therapy and case management to families assessed for abuse and neglect; Our Residential Program includes 4 Sibling Group Foster Homes and a Foster Teen Maternity Residence. The goal of the sibling home is to allow brothers and sisters to remain together; the Foster Maternity Home is the only home of this type in Broward County and provides a loving home to pregnant or parenting foster teens and their babies.

CH maintains a high level of quality of service through our Continuous Quality Improvement process. The Children's Harbor staff is comprised of individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Annually, these professionals treat 60-70 children through our Residential Program and approximately 800 family members through our Family Intervention Program. The unique holistic approach developed and practiced by our professionals continues to succeed in addressing the total needs of each child to foster successful functioning in the community.

Additionally, we have passed critical monitoring with contractors and recently achieved National Accreditation through the Council on Accreditation ensuring model practices in Board Governance, Ethics, Supervision and Training, Continuous Quality Improvement, Finance, Human Resources and Service.
